The experience is supposed to be a break from the normally hectic pace of daily life. The reality is that there are many electronic gadgets that can actually be incredibly fun and even necessary on some camping or hiking excursions. There are a few very useful gadgets that can help to make traveling in the great outdoors easier.

There are a range of electronic devices that operate off of rechargeable batteries. This includes cell phones, flashlights and cameras. These same adventurers sometimes want to just relax out in the woods when the day is done. Portable satellite flat screen televisions are one option. These are thin devices that are about the size of a traditional laptop. The unit flips open and has a screen on one side with a receiver behind it. This can provide live satellite television signals in nearly any location.
Rugged Phones
The rugged standard for electronics is one that is normally applied to devices intended for military use. Rugged electronics can withstand temperature changes, moisture, vibrations and even rough impacts. A valuable piece of gear for the outdoors is some type of rugged phone. A rugged phone can be carried, abused and even dropped in the water without breaking. It can provide a way to call for help in an emergency and even a way to access applications like a global positioning system when lost.
